‘Timber in War-Time’ by Reginald Davey (1941) | Olde Timey Book Review

Book Reviewed: Timber in War-Time by Reginald Davey (London: The Estates Gazette LTD., 1941)

In this Olde Timey Book Review I examine everyone’s favourite handbook on timber legislation in Britain during the Second World War, Timber in War-Time by Reginald Davey (1941). While the text is admittedly rather dry, the book is an insight into a legitimate concern during the 1940s that touched many aspects of life, namely Britain’s need for timber.

Archival Footage is from Wood for War (1942) by the Canadian Army Film Unit showing the efforts of the Canadian Forestry Corps (See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwe3ksP7GdQ).

Thank you for watching!

Olde Timey Book Review is a series examining vintage books, focusing on them as cultural artefacts within their historical context rather than solely on the texts themselves. These videos are for people interested in literary heritage and in discovering the peculiar variety of topics that authors have approached, each in their own unique style.
